Clinics
Blood Tests
Currently all routine blood tests can be booked at the Whittington Hospital or at a number of local Islington clinics.
Cervical Smears
Cervical smears are offered every three years to all women aged 25-49 years, and every 5 years for those aged 50-64 years. Please book an appointment with our Practice Nurses.
Child Health and Immunisations
Our Practice Nurses are able to offer immunisations, including child health immunisations, and adult immunisations such as shingles, pneumonia and flu. We do not provide COVID jabs.
We also undertake baby six week health checks which includes a doctor being present. Please ensure that you bring the baby's red book with you to all clinics. Immunisations cannot be given without the red book.
Further advice and support:
Contraception
The doctors and nurses provide a wide range of sexual health advice and screening which includes:
- Providing contraception, including fitting of coils and implants
- Free condoms (ask at reception)
If you need emergency contraception, please call the surgery and we can arrange to provide this.
All services are strictly confidential.
Covid Vaccination
Interpreters
- We can arrange for an interpreter to be present for your routine GP or nurse appointment for patients whose first language is not English.
- Please let us know if you need this service when booking an appointment.
- The service is not usually available for urgent appointments, but we can use a secure telephone interpreting service for urgent care if needed.
Long Term Conditions Care e.g. asthma/diabetes/chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
The doctors, nurses and pharmacists work together for patients to provide care for patients with chronic disease. This includes regular annual check-ups.
Measure Your Own Blood Pressure
We have a machine in reception that you are welcome to pop in and use anytime to measure your own blood pressure. It is very easy to use. It will tell you if your blood pressure is abnormal. It can also check your weight and can ask you some health screening questions.
Pharmacist
We have practice based pharmacists who can see patients for medication reviews and support for patients with long term conditions.
Prevention of Long Term Health Conditions (NHS Health Checks)
We offer NHS health checks for the over 45s, and prevention health checks for patients at risk of certain long term conditions such as diabetes, heart disease and COPD.
Smoking Cessation Clinics
Please make an appointment to see one of our smoking cessation advisors for help with giving up smoking.
Alternatively, you can see your local pharmacist, or find other NHS support services to stop smoking.
Social Prescriber
A social prescriber is a professional who works in primary care and helps patients access activities, groups, and services in their community to meet the practical, social, and emotional needs that affect their health and wellbeing. We have a weekly social prescriber clinic at the practice which is run by Help on our Doorstep.
